740. Fair Weather

People fall into two categories. One is endowed with foresight. The other is used to crisis management. Those with foresight continuously receive Grace. The others create crises by their casual attitudes and the incoming Grace is fully absorbed by the crises. There is one more category of people who are immune to Grace. They are casual, refuse to shoulder any responsibility, pay little attention to their duties, do the minimum necessary to survive.

739. The Real Value of Man

People in their seventies or sixties may remember that before 1960 buyers of cars had to deposit the full cost of the car with the dealer and wait for months for delivery, sometimes even a full year. Cars in India were then in the seller's market. Now car manufacturers come to the buyers to persuade them to buy, themselves arranging for a bank loan. The condition of the market has changed. The product is in the buyer's market.

738. “My Way”

Before the war, status alone was respected. People obeyed men who occupied the post. The respect was for the post, who occupied the place was immaterial. And that social milieu puffed up the head of men who occupied the post. Man rises to a high post. His Ego expands in all directions. Society approves of it and offers its submissive consent, called adoration. Demography, statistics, management, computer, etc. are sciences today. America is their home of birth and field of nurture. The American Management Association was in existence even in the 50s.

737. Viswarupa Darsan

Some people are reasonable, many are unreasonable, especially when their own interest is touched. Irrationality is common. It is not new. Occasionally irrationality insists beyond limits. Irrationality has a way of suddenly changing into its opposite when faced with pressure of strength. What does not yield to argument yields to strength. What no measure of strength can move, an illuminating thought sometimes moves. Thought is more powerful than strength and it is known to bring strength around in time. Human ego can defy strength or even knowledge.

736. Social Symbols

Kamaraj travelling on the road saw a new car with MDX number plates and shouted in joy. Friends by his side were unable to know what had brought him so much delight. To him, the car numbers were a sign of the country's prosperity. Perhaps MD stood for Madras and different letters were assigned to different districts for one thousand vehicles. I do not know what system they followed. MDX was a sign for Kamaraj that the number of car owners in the previous letter had crossed a thousand. Anyone prospering is an indication that Prosperity in the country is gathering at all levels.

735. The Knowledge Commission

Socrates was born two thousand years ago. The world has not yet followed the knowledge he gave us or the love Jesus brought. Just because knowledge is there, people will not benefit by it. But we see if one man adopts a sales trick, at once all the shops readily adopt it. Knowledge diluted to become readily usable information is at once taken and used. Where people hesitated to imitate the upper middle class in terms of education, dress, hotel visits, etc. in the past, now do not hesitate any longer.

734. That Little Extra Effort

Affluent families sometimes find that a less affluent family has settled its sons and daughters far better than they co

731. Draupadi’s Curse

Draupadi's position in The Mahabharata is unique in more than one sense.
