Comfortable life in the past implied an army of servants. There is another side to it. Modern comforts now enjoyed by an individual are really the service of a huge number of people. Advanced technology abolished human labour. Future life will be more civilised, i.e. will demand greater service by men or technology. The future is for the Mind whose exercise demands greater leisure. Every individual rising in his status obviously needs the assistance and service of highly equipped individuals. Presently men in high position are served by an office in public or private. The higher the quality of the future citizen, the higher the service he needs is a fact of evolved life. It is better not to lose sight of it. Fundamentally the abridging of working hours aiming to eliminate them in the future is the characteristic of a higher civilisation. The fact beyond it cannot be conceived of today. A family of cultured life demands the services of an army of sophisticated individuals far better equipped than one can conceive of. In the future, the fully cultured society, all Men who count will be a chota king of culture. In an ideal condition, the higher has the privilege of serving the lower.
The past examined in this light will reveal the kernel of truth in terms of employable people. End of Jobs is the illusion of a dream who has no idea of the realities of life. Computer eliminates paper. Computer consumes a great quantity of paper. In this period of transition both are temporarily true. Basically an advancing civilised life compels greater service that continues to grow with the passing decades. The aim of the society being to eliminate physical labour, the working week should turn into the working Day. In viewing life as a flow of energy, there was an occasion to see the intersections creating explosions. That principle at a far higher level will at similar intersections absorb great energies into Quietude. To sustain life at a level of very high culture, the society needs great volumes of energy absorbed into the oases of Silence. One with that vision can see a similar phenomenon NOW around the conference table. A series of conferences by various individuals and organisations create an invisible atmosphere which in a few years changes the atmosphere. Between the Civil War and anti-segregation movement, such a change took place. Between the Cripps Proposals and Mountbatten, Sri Aurobindo created such a change in India. A series of conferences end in avoiding war. Thousands of lives are saved is what we know. We do not see how much energy of how many millions of civilians goes into its creation. A fighting army at the front is actively supported by a working population working two or three times. To view life in terms of jobs is a poor myopic view. Millions work for winning wars. Billions have to work to create culture and sustain it. Elizabeth moves to Pemberley when energy is released by Mr. Bennet and energy is conserved by Mrs. Bennet who abandons her initiative. To repeat, higher life needs greater energy which declares the increasing jobs. Only a less civilised society because of lack of productive order creates unemployment while there is work to be done. The travel company was struck with the idea of Walt Disney Centre. It is so easily possible to make all travel across EU to pass through their roads. Roads like ring roads, the roads in France are energetic catalysts. About 3 or 4 times fresh traffic can be created. The old view does not see. The new view is endless.
Veto is the head of Charles I for economic democracy. Without guaranteeing employment, the world is not going to usher in equality in economics. Nor can it stop there. She has to go beyond to Social Equality. As law is rigorously implemented in the USA to protect women, children, the poor, punish perjury, abolish corruption, social democracy will remain moonshine. There will be no psychological equality without rigorously punishing perjury, implementing traffic rules, exposing and punishing the hypocrisy of the politician and the scientist. The medical profession must face the competition of alternative medicine. The prying dangerous journalist must be prevented and heavily punished. Quintus Slides must enjoy no immunity to harass good behaviour. Politician is above the Law is the rule in Asia. No longer must this immunity be allowed to exist. Tax havens must be abolished. No government must be allowed to organise terrorism, indulge in the sale of small arms, deny education to women. UN membership must not be allowed to these rogue governments. International public opinion is powerful enough to abolish gun carrying as well as nuclear weapons. Man is shy to own the knowledge that is effective in his life. It is the hypocrisy of shameful weakness, like Elizabeth’s ‘Your interruption is not unwelcome’. The individual who is so shy will not be heard in the world. USSR would not speak the facts and died a natural death. Big Bang, climate change, speculation are the Superstitions of science and politics. One should not be allowed to survive on the basis of untruth. It is not democratic majority that pleads for carrying guns. It is to organise violence by law. The world is superstitiously ignorant and is extremely proud of it. All Men are like this. Only he who is NOT like that can have an impact on it. Till now Men stronger in such a trait have lorded over the world.
Employment is not a problem even as old age is not. In the old age men are rich and resourceful and several are full of energy. They can offer a rare service if it is organised. Those who have no energy can think. Their thought is the essence of their experience. It is more so in the family. Their life organised will be wonderful. Their psychological life organised will be a standing wonder. They are NOT a problem. Employment today has the connotation of job or work earning a livelihood. Man is not to work, not to earn. Of course circumstances compel him. To oblige the practical realities he has to work a little. Man is creative in Mind, more so in spirit. He can make his own life a wonder and others’ lives as heaven. The world is blind. The Amish tells us how blind people are. When one awakes, he will be a Man who can see.
